Hey guys! I have founded a Software Automation Consultancy that aims to help businesses save time and money by building cyberbots that would take care of the manual, day-to-day manual computer chores that are plaguing your business.
I'll get straight to the point. In the age of Corona, companies are looking to become more efficient and cut costs. How can I help? Below are case studies of a few companies I've already helped and how I've helped them. If you see yourself in them, please reach out to me via chat or DM.
Case Study abstracts:
Pulling bank account balance information every morning for a client with 100 sub accounts and saving them onto a web application. This saved the client several hours a day of manually checking the bank wesite and copy/pasting the data onto excel sheets. (I saved this client $40,000/year by cutting out manual labor)
Data-mining email addresses from a given list of websites. My client used to wake up at 4 am and do this manually till 9 am. Now she sleeps during that time.
Automating resume critiques using AI to analyze each bullet point and generate suggestions (resumator.io, a startup I founded, was built on this).
Let's team up and work together to bring your business into 2020!

2020.03.28 01:07 Skarsburning Need advice on a path

Hello everyone,
Easy to make this a TLDR so I will try to be quick. I need advice on what to do.
I work as a web server support tech lead (mainly IIS, App Service in Azure). Really fun, really like web technologies, I am good with this portion of the web tech. Never had the time to start coding and see the dev part. Recently decided to start a Codecademy Web Development path (starts with html, css, JS so far). I don't want to get a job out of this. So for now, I want to learn so I can do fun stuff/projects in my spare time.
I am a big fan of Diablo 2. So currently, what I learn at Codecademy I put into a hobby fansite of the game. It really has been a lot of fun to put in practice what i learn at Codecademy. Really helps stick the new knowledge. So now I am done with the overall layout of the page and I want to bring in some functionality. What I want to do is a character planner. Put some real functionality into the fansite. I want people to come and build a character, choose level, get some skill points to distribute and in the end - to save the profile of what they are doing.
This is the wesite, i think the layout turned out to be not that bad after all - https://www.diablo-2.net/ and this is the layout for the character planner - https://www.diablo-2.net/character-planner?class=Paladin&clevel=99 - basically a lot of images i want to make clickable and do something with them (using JS i guess) but I want to save the result and make it share-able (what technology?). I use a tiny bit of PHP on the website, mainly to include other pages and few IF/ELSE statements.
So learning about Javascript, i find it fascinating but i realise that even if I manage to get this functionality i want from it, it might be hard to actually save the stuff that the users are doing (like building the characters). I don't want it to go away when the page refreshes. I want people to either save the profiles .. on a MySQL db for example OR get a special URL for their current progress so they can come back to it or refer other people to it. The idea is for people to try out character builds and share their builds with other people.
So few questions on choosing a tech:
#1 - What would you recommend me to focus my learning to? Should I choose PHP + JS. Is it possible to make some manipulations like clicking some objects on the page in Javascript and then save that data using PHP?
#2 - I've seem similar planners like the one I want to build where as people click on interactable objects on the page, the query string in the address bar changes based on choices made and this makes the choices be transferred and shared only by taking the URL and giving it someone else. What tech achives this?
I will continue learning the Javascript path on Codecademy but I feel like I will need help from a backend language or a framework too.

2019.09.22 03:04 DSMB Guide: Root and spoof on Samsung Galaxy S7 and S8

This was originally written while doing my S8, but I've used it for an S7, and any differences are noted. The process for rooting the S9 and S10 are different and I'm not familiar with them.
This method also works without rooting, albeit not as efficiently (the app can't change location instantly), however given rooting is almost no additional effort and you can retain full SafetyNet pass and easily hide root, I recommend you do it.
While the installation of TWRP will vary between handsets, installing Magisk and Smali patch files should be basically the same for any Android device.

S7 Guides:
Useful S8 guides with good downloads:
Also, Galaxy handsets these days (S8 etc) have this "RMM State" which can prevent flashing custom binaries such as TWRP if it trips. I didn't need to worry about this my first time round, but it might be worth flashing the RMM State bypass when also flashing no-verity. You can read more about RMM state here. I've included it in the guide.

Fully expect to lose your existing firmware. While it should be easy to avoid bootloop if this guide is followed, there's always room for error or the unexpected. No biggie, just go into download mode and flash a stock ROM.
Of course, disclaimer, if somehow your phone bricks, I take no responsibility, proceed at own risk. Warranty will be void. You will also trip Knox which cannot ever be reset. It's an e-fuse built into the CPU that will be tripped when you flash TWRP. There's no getting around this, however all it means is that Samsung Pay and Secure Folder won't work. Third party banking apps should still work.

This only works for Exynos variant (SnapDragon (US version) doesn't work).

Note: If you get some weird behaviour that uninstalling and time does not seem to fix, you can always just flash stock firmware. Also, if you want to try again and RMM state tripped to prenormal, you'll need to leave your phone on for 7 days for it to reset. Ensure you check for system updates at the start and end of the 7 days as it may not reset. Pro-tip, you can check system uptime via terminal emulator with the command "uptime -p" without quotes.

Moving on, the entire process can be summarised as follows:
Now for the detail.

PREP
  1. Backup any data you want to keep, e.g. files, photos, app data. I also downloaded stock firmware in case anything went sour because my phone is my online internet. This guide uses deprecated software, but gets the job done. However, I recommend sammobile.com (you'll need to make an account). Use the "Phone INFO SAM" app, go to "FIRMWARE" and note your details so you can download correct firmware. Mainly the three letter CSC code is what you need, also listed separately under "CSC CODE".
  2. Enable OEM Unlocking. (Activate Developer Mode by tapping "Build number" till it says developer mode unlocked. Within Developer Options activate "OEM Unlocking".)
  3. Enable USB debugging.
  4. Download the following files to PC:

FLASH TWRP
  1. Disconnect and power off phone.
  2. Enter download mode on S8 (hold VOL DOWN + BIXBY + POWER till green screen appears). (POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN for S7).
  3. Press up to confirm download mode.
  4. Connect USB cable to PC and phone. It is recommended to use the original cable.
  5. Unzip and run Odin. A box should appear light blue with a random COM number. This may take a few minutes. If it doesn't appear (mine didn't, but that may have been because I had no internet and Windows couldn't download drivers):
Assuming light blue box has now appeared...
  1. Click "AP".
  2. Browse for TWRP tar file.
IMPORTANT
  1. If your phone has one, remove it from it's case (this will make it much easier to press correct button combination). Prepare yourself by getting ready to press VOL UP + BIXBY + POWER buttons. Do not press them yet. Note, download mode uses VOL DOWN, but here we use VOL UP to boot into TWRP recovery. I guess you could disable reset in options, but I never relied on that.
(For S7 go to options tab and disable auto reboot (only F. Reset Time should be checked). Look, I assume you can just do the same for S8 but I just stuck to the guides.)
  1. Press "Start". TWRP will flash in seconds.
  2. "PASS!" will appear in the big green box and the phone screen will go black. IMMEDIATELY press VOL UP + BIXBY + POWER simultaneously until TWRP screen appears (blue circle with arrows).
(For S7, no rush. Press and hold POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN, and as soon as it leaves download mode switch from VOL DOWN to VOL UP buttons. Continue holding POWER + HOME + VOL UP till TWRP recovery screen appears.)

INSTALL MODS
  1. Tap "Keep Read Only"
  2. "Wipe" > "Format Data" and confirm as prompted.
IMPORTANT
  1. DO NOT click "Reboot System". Go back to main menu, click "Reboot" > "Recovery". Uncheck TWRP prompt. Do NOT swipe to install TWRP app. Click "Do not install TWRP".
  2. Once rebooted tap "Keep Read Only"
  3. From your PC copy the no-verity, RMM state bypass (S8 only) and Magisk zip files to your phones internal storage.
  4. From your phone, tap "Install", browse for the no-verity zip file and swipe to confirm. Then do the same to install RMM State Bypass (S8 only), and lastly the Magisk file.
  5. Go back, tap "Reboot" > "System". Your phone should boot normally.
  6. Copy Magisk APK to your phones internal storage.
  7. Open a file manager, browse to APK file and install (you'll need to allow installation from unknown sources).
  8. Run Magisk, tap the menu button (top left) and go to "Settings"
  9. Under "General" tap "Hide Magisk Manager" (Repackage Magisk Manager).

GENERATE SMALI PATCH FILES
XDA Guide Note Requirements (PC with 3GB+ RAM, .NET Framework 4.7.1 or later installed, Java). There is a simple video tutorial but this sub doesn't allow YT links, but here it is: lIXMvbjOw98. It's pretty easy anyway.
  1. Extract SmaliPatcher zip and run SmaliPatcher.exe (you must have internet to download binaries on first run).
  2. In SmaliPatcher check "Mock locations" only.
  3. Click "ADB PATCH" (phone should be connected with USB debugging enabled). After process is complete the status bar at the bottom will indicate "Idle...". You may see the warning "W: Could not find resources" in the log window, it is normal. If it spends more than 10min recompiling, terminate process and try again. Should only take a few min.
  4. Extract the zip that has been created in the Smali folder.

INSTALL SMALI PATCH FILES
From Reddit post guide and video tutorial post.
  1. Turn off phone and boot into TWRP (VOL UP + BIXBY + POWER).
  2. Swipe to allow modifications so you can copy patch files.
  3. "Mount" > "System", and go back.
  4. On your PC copy the created patch folder from the Smali folder to your phones internal storage (in the Reddit post they copied into 'Download' folder).
  5. On your phone tap "Advanced" > "File Manager".
  6. Copy the following files:
To copy files you simply tap on the file and tap "Copy", navigate to the relevant system folder, tap the blue button to paste, and swipe to confirm. Double check file paths before you paste to avoid confusion.
NOTE: When you open "system", if a "system" folder exists within the "system" folder navigate into that second "system" folder. If this is the case you should be pasting your files into '/system/system/framework/*' instead of '/system/framework/*'. I didn't have this scenario, but the video tutorial mentioned this (watch it).
Also, I had an additional file in /sdcard/Download/framework/oat/arm64/ called services.vdex. I did not copy this file.
IMPORTANT
  1. Navigate to /system/framework/services.jar (or /system/system/framework/services.jar), tap "CHMOD 755" and confirm. You'll get a bootloop if you skip this step.
  2. Go back and "Reboot" > "System".

CONFIGURE APPS
  1. It's recommended to disable Google Location Services if not already disabled (search for it in settings). I dunno why, but I did anyway.
  2. Install Pokemon Go
  3. Open Magisk Manager, go to Hide, and check Pokemon Go.
  4. Install FakeGPS, or your app of choice, such as The App Ninjas GPS Joystick
  5. Go to Developer Options and set mock location app to FakeGPS, or spoofing app of choice.
  6. Run FakeGPS.
  7. In the Fake GPS app settings, uncheck "No-Root Mode". Feel free to modify settings such as Auto Move. I also recommend manually setting an altitude appropriate to where you intend to spoof. I avoid the automatic option.
  8. Start mock locations.
  9. Test in maps before Pokemon Go to ensure it works.
NOTE: After finishing with Fake GPS app, remove if from Mock Locations in developer settings. Otherwise certain apps like Play Store won't function correctly. E.g. Apps would download to 99% but not install. If you still have issues, try restarting phone and wait a while.
Edit: Problem popped up again (apps hang on 99% download) after spoofing all day into the city. I tried clearing data of various Google apps/services. What fixed the issue was going to Apps > Google Play Services > Storage > Manage storage > CLEAR ALL DATA. By then I had also cleared basically all cache and other data from Google, Google Play Services, and Google Play Store.

You do not need to disable high accuracy options, though it may help if you run into issues.
So far, no rubber-banding, no error messages, joystick works and routes are OK.
If the free app works you may want to consider installing Fake GPS Joystick & Routes Go.
If using routes, sometimes the route may stop updating, and you need to switch between the Fake GPS app to keep it going. A minor inconvenience. Also had issues with apps closing in background. Just had to restart phone. Also on the rare occasion upon restarting phone it would freeze up after a minute and eventually force restart itself, this would keep happening for like an hour before settling down. Might be Magisk, but it's not really an issue. Another issue is that after spoofing for a while, I can't install apps from Play Store. Downloads to 99 or 100% and then won't install. Might be a Google security issue. Just gotta wait it out. It always eventually works.
Remember, if for whatever reason you aren't happy with something you can just reflash stock firmware.
Remember to be careful of cooldowns!

2018.12.20 19:31 MrHowardQuinn OCS Website Data Usage - Updated

So... I read this yesterday:
https://www.reddit.com/TheOCS/comments/a7i2o7/anyone_finding_high_data_usage_from_ocs_wesite/
And so I wanted to simply drop a quick note here that I actually had the exact same problem. And it's become much worse. I think I browsed the OCS website this morning on my phone (Android, using Chrome) for less than three minutes.
In that brief time, Chrome used approximately 300 MB of data... which is, in no uncertain terms, fucking insane.
I did call the OCS and while I was on hold for a little while, I've opened a ticket and requested that it be escalated.
I will report back if I hear anything, but for the time being - DO NOT NAVIGATE TO THE OCS WEBSITE WHILE USING A METERED DATA CONNECTION.

2018.12.19 03:24 HamptonTowns Anyone finding high data usage from OCS wesite?

I've seen massive data usage from Safari since I began using the OCS site on my phone. I used 864mb in a two hour period and the only thing I did was check the OCS website during that time. Is this even possible? Am I pointing the finger at the wrong thing? Anyone else see something like this? Maybe leaving the site open in the background uses data?

2018.06.16 13:23 AlexPriceAP Showcase: Let's See The Best Scene You've Designed!

https://i.imgur.com/KMmfY6q.png
In my case it's my 'Motor' scene that I've spent a lot of hours back & forth trying to get a nice sleek design (which I've found and will probably use on my main frequented scenes).
The first section contains the fuel stats. At 1am every morning a task fires that parses the HTML (no free APIs & I'm cheap!) from a website that gives the average pence-per-litre around the UK. The same task does all the maths using that pence-per-litre to work out the pence-per-mile & range for 48mpg (my average) & 50mpg (sometimes acheivable), what it'll cost to drive to & from work for the day, and also what a full tank would cost!
The second section is parsing yet more HTML (thank god for the JavaScriptlet action & the fact I learned web dev years ago!) to extract the worst driver of the month's reg, and then count how many comments (if any) my own reg has on the same wesite. No real reason behind this, I just found it cool to have haha!
The image and text at the bottom is using the Highways England API to get the average speed, the set speed limit (on the gantrys), whatever message is shown on the matrix signs & the CCTV image of the camera close by - this is for the motorway junction I constantly use. When requesting the CCTV image no matter what you try it only lets you request one every 10 or so seconds so despite my attempts there's no way to constantly request the images and make it into a live feed :(. Of course when I hit the green icon in the bottom right it re-fetches the data & image, throwing it all in the global variables (which I only just realised update in the scene automatically - no need to reset the text to the global variable again!).
So.. let's see what your favourite self-made scene is! I love seeing what other people making and improving my own 😁.

2017.03.08 10:05 blackphase3 You're (not) terminated

Work IT for a medium-sized company - few hundred users at various locations around the country. As is common, it seems that if it uses electricity, it must be an IT issue. External wesite down? Our problem. Light bulb blown? Call IT. Earrings need adjusting? Call IT... wha????
Anyway, I digress.
We have a ton of IP cameras around the place. We supply cameras but don't do cabling of any sort cause we aren't a) inclined or b) qualified. Each site knows this because we tell them almost every day.
So we get a call, newly installed camera isn't working. Camera is about 15 metres up, so you'd need a boom lift to get up there. OK, can I ping it? No. Get them to check cabling and it's apparently fine. Check is plugged into switch and it is but switch is reporting back no data or power draw (gotta love managed switches). Still can't connect to the camera.
Tell them again to get a comms guy to have a look at cabling, because it's almost certainly a cabling issue. Yeah yeah we'll do that. We forget about it because it's out of our hands.
Next month, a call again saying camera still isn't working. Repeat the above.
Another month passes, repeat x 3.
After 2 months, someone finally decided to check BOTH end of the cable only to find the end 15 metres up was never terminated. Which they would have discovered if they listened to our instructions on day one.
TL:DR Cables need to be terminated at both ends for things to work.

2011.07.13 10:54 ProtimoiDelt Found insecure personal information online. What to do next?

A couple of days ago I was on a website to find my schedule for an upcoming soccer tournament. All of the other age groups had theirs posted hours ago but the link for my age group was still not showing up. I figured that they must have just forgotten to update the link for my group and figured I would use a trick that I have used for other websites to get information that I know is there but confusing to get to. The websites for all of the other schedules were all posted something like this
https://derpaderp.com/resources/dyn/files/852 https://derpaderp.com/resources/dyn/files/854 https://derpaderp.com/resources/dyn/files/857
I figured I would try out different numbers around those thinking they must have already uploaded mine but forgot to include it on the page with links to them. Much to my suprise the first number I tried linked to an application to a local fast food restaurant. Confused and a little concerned I tried out a few other numbers nearby found random things, but not what I was looking for. Although I realized I likely wouldn't be able to find my schedule I was bored so decided to mess around and try out other numbers to see what else was there. Mostly the files were just small images I believe were used on their site, but I also found things that should not be able to accessed so easily. In the couple of hours I messed around with it I was able to find
-an excel database that had every registered player (1000+) with their name/age/dob/address/email/phone number -applications -team waivers (not a huge deal) -background checks that included tons of personal information including social security numbers
Within the registration database I was able to find all of the information noted above for myself which seriously irked me considering how easy it was to find. I immediately called the only phone number I could locate for them and they connected me with the director of communications and development. I explained what I had found and he was dumbfounded. He had no clue that the information was insecure and asked me to email him examples so he could check it out and said he would get back to me.
I emailed him everything and a few hours later he emailed me back apologizing for what had happened and included a forwarded message to him from the CEO of some company that they use for database management and I would imagine the people who set up and run their website. The message from the CEO read as follows
Thank you for the information, I have teams currently looking into this. It seems like a potential configuration issue on the form upload data process. We are looking into it and will implement any corrective measures immediately. I will keep you updated when I have more information. Please relay to Mr. X (me) we appreciate his efforts on this and are working aggressively to identify and resolve. Thanks
The next day I checked out the website and all the files people should not be able to access are password protected which definitely impressed me seeing as how I had contacted them towards the end of the working day. I emailed them back thanking them for taking care of the issue so quickly, but inquired as to why it would be possible to happen in the first place and why they hadn't noticed it themselves (there were documents all the way back to 2007). I also inquired as to what they were going to do to alert the people who had their information exposed, or at least out for grabs by anyone.
He simply replied to me that it wasn't a big deal and there was no need for them to notify anyone because it was very unlikely that anyone else had access to the information. This doesn't really sit well with me, but I don't exactly know what to do. I have copies of everything I ran across because he wanted me to email it to him.
I have considered sending a mass email to everyone on the list and the others that I can find within applications and stuff but since it isn't super important information and it is unlikely anyone else stumbled upon it I don't know if it is nescesarry.I have also considered going to the local newspaper and seeing if they would write an article on it so that people would be aware of it and able to watch out for any problems from it. I could also just contact the people that have more important information out there like their social security and cc #'s since that is much more important and could actually effect them. Or I could simply let it go and assume that it is taken care of and a done deal.
tl;dr :wesite had very insecure personal data, stumbled upon it, problem was fixed but no one affected will know about it - what should I do?
